Birch properties give distinct highs and mids, separating the low end making this a great wood selection for making a Cajon, you get a real snap when you go for your snare sound (which you can adjust) and a thudding low bass note to complete the back beat on the duo gig/radio session. The port hole at the back enhances bass end and enables you to mic up the cajon. A bass mic is popular but try a snare mic and pack the cajon with a small towel, it creates more of a powerful thud through the PA and you get a real clear snap from the snare.
